Many visitors opt to purchase land or a house in Bequia and there are several real estate agents on island happy to show what is offered.
There is considerable private land for sale.
It should be noted, however, that the decision of the Government to sell off all
of Bequia’s government-owned land (20% of the island) has met with serious opposition
from the local people. This land, it was assumed, would be used to benefit
Bequians either to sell at a subsidized price to locals or to develop with schools
or other public projects. Selling Bequia off just to raise money for a
Government project on the Mainland is opposed by most Bequians.
