Diving

Diving in Bequia
ranks with the best in the Caribbean. The coral formations off the North Coast are outstanding, and well preserved.  L'Anse Chemise, Cinnamon, and Bequia Head are bursting with aquatic life. Huge green moray, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, and even sea horses can be found.

The Bullet, off the northeast point is an adventurous dive because of the limited access, and sometimes rough sea conditions, but well rewarded when possible.  This is almost virgin diving and a hiding ground for large southern rays, nurse and reef sharks in abundance, queen angel, large grouper and 'pemalot' fish.

Off Western Cay there are beautiful coral formations, and a wall dive dropping from 30 feet to 125 feet. There is always a pleasant surprise  - it could be an 'octopus', a frogfish, a scorpion, or a huge barracuda.

All of the best dive sites can be reached by power boat from the dive shops in Admiralty Bay in 10 to 15 minutes.  An added bonus are the uninhabited little islands around Bequia such as Pigeon Island which have up to 70 to 80-foot visability producing ideal conditions for photography.

I keep coming back to Bequia. That unique combination of diving, island cuisine, and friendly people, makes this, for me, the perfect location.
